Competing for the coveted crown of “Boston’s Best Chowder”, restaurants serve an estimated 7,570 litres (2,000 gallons) of New England’s famed clam chowder to the thousands of visitors who attend the event each year. With each vendor trying to outdo the other in pursuit of the title, visitors are guaranteed some mouth watering variations of the region’s signature dish. When you’ve had your fill, kick back and enjoy a packed entertainment programme that includes live music, jugglers and other entertainers. The event is an Independence Day tradition which usually takes place on the closest weekend to 4 July
