The Chicago Air and Water Show is the largest free show of its kind in the United States, attracting some 2 million spectators to the Lake Michigan shoreline, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point. The show is a superb demonstration of the daredevil courage and terrifying skills of the pilots from the US Navy Blue Angels. It also includes various other military displays, both out on the water and in the sky. The aeroplane acrobatics can be viewed from just about anywhere along the lakefront
