One of the most popular musical events in Chicago, each year about 50,000 people turn up to enjoy great art, food, family activities and music. Playing on three stages spread between four blocks, many of the city's favourite bands perform continuously, to banish any Summertime Blues. Meanwhile, visitors can stroll around the festival streets, each one lined with an assortment of arts and crafts merchants and a wide choice of food. Attractions for children include gadgets and games to play with for free, and there is the promise of the WONKAmobile, an interactive dispenser of sweets. The music line-up often includes acts of national fame – Spin Doctors and Old 97's have both featured in past years
