Orlando joins in with the rest of the country in the popular Independence Day celebrations. Events take place throughout the city, but the main hub of the celebrations is in the area around Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Celebrations include a day of concerts, parades, fireworks and much flag-waving. The day marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence on 4 July 1776 and is a national holiday throughout the country
