The Montreal Gay Pride festival consists of a range of events including outdoor and indoor shows, a grand street parade and the Grand Rendez-vous. Over half a million people fill the festival venues over the course of the week, to enjoy and take part in a host of entertainments including modern dance, blues, jazz , pop, Latin, rock, world, funk, ambient, techno and electronic concerts. Further popular attractions include drag queen performances, an outdoor cinema and a photo exhibition. Most events are outdoor and free – their objective is to promote the importance of being different, through an internationally unifying event
