The Toronto WinterCity Festival is a city-wide celebration of Toronto's incredible diversity. The 14-day event takes place in the heart of Toronto with a mix of free indoor and outdoor happenings ranging from "Winterlicious" culinary events through to spectacular theatrical shows. An incredible pyrotechnics display that uses sound, flame and colourful explosives gets things underway on the opening night and attracts thousands of spectators. The great family-friendly festival features a wide range of performances, including live bands and circus acts. Visitors can also go ice skating on the large outdoor ice rink (skate hire available on site). As part of the city’s "Wild on Winter" programme, visitors can also enjoy the two "Grande Spectacle" shows that are held in Nathan Philips Square involving vibrant costumes, music and dance. The festival draws to a close with a stunning fireworks display. This lively event has to place Toronto as one of the best winter cities in the world
