One of the most important festivals in the film industry, TIFF is the main event in North America and is often considered second only to Cannes in terms of world significance. Toronto is influential, sometimes decisive in determining who carries off the Oscars, and it is also very much a people's festival. At theatres across the city, TIFF screens more than 350 films to appreciative audiences. It also hosts numerous stars.
