Best Fish Fry in Madison, WI

Friday night and fish fry go hand in hand in Wisconsin.  It's tradition. What can I say?  Might be cod, might be blue gill or walleye, might even be perch. But the best fish is beer battered with slaw and a cold brew on the side.

My guess is that just about any bar or pub you wander into in Madison on a Friday night will have it's version of The ...

Ella's Deli - Madison's Kickin' Kosher Deli & Ice Cream Parlor

Ella's Deli, on Madison's east side, not only temps the taste buds, it noggles all the senses.   How to describe it?

Can you imagine Spiderman flying across the room while you dig into your banana split?  How about downing a corned beef reuben while circus performers dance about your head? Or slurping matso ball soup over a medieval landscape made out of Legos?

Ella's is a sensory experience you can't imagine until you, well...experience ...

Paisan's --- Pizza, Pasta, and Primo Dining

It was a bitterly --- and I mean bitterly! --- cold Saturday night. The downtown area was pretty quiet. There were parking spaces available in Paisan's free (after 5pm) underground parking. So you can imagine my surprise when we walked in the front doors and were greeted with a lively, crowded bar area and a wait time of and hour and ten minutes (no reservations Friday or Saturday) for dinner.

To ...

3 Great Madison Restaurants to Tantalize Homestyle Tastebuds

When our college-age son arrived home after a year studying in Japan, we asked what he was hungry for in terms of good ol' "American" fare.  His answer was immediate and direct: Real pizza, authentic Mexican food, and a big, juicy hamburger.  Not all at once of course.  And, okay, so Mexican isn't "American," but it also isn't Japanese (which he loves, but he was definitely missing food from home.)

It ...

New Madison Brew Pub

If you happen to be on the west side of Madison looking for brew and a bite to eat, check out the Granite City Food & Brewery --- the latest addition to Madison's West Towne Mall complex. Hubby and I had an opportunity to size up this brew pub against other brew pubs in the area just this past weekend.  We were nicely surprised.

As we walked in, we were immediately ...
