Ten Great Bars in Madison, WI!
The Isthmus-Madison's free weekly alternative newspaper-ran a great article by Robin Shepard this week profiling the revival of the brewery scene in Madison.
But what caught my eye was a side-bar titled: "The bars that brewers patronize." It was a listing of ten bars/taverns "that Madison-area brewers named when asked to identify their [favorite] hangouts." The side-bar did not promise that these bars had great beer, but rather that they had an ambiance-a personality or vibe, as the article put it-that goes beyond what's on tap.
Here are the ten bars that the Madison-area brewers recommended (in no particular order):
- Church Key - 626 University Ave.
- Genna's - 105 W. Main St.
- Maduro - 117 E. Main St.
- Paul's Club - 212 State St.
- Weary Traveler - 1201 Williamson St.
- Wonder's Pub - 1980 Atwood Ave.
- Silver Dollar Saloon - 117 W. Mifflin St.
- The Old Fashioned - 23 N. Pinckney St.
- Harmony Bar - 2201 Atwood Ave.
- Come Back Inn/Essen Haus/Up North 508-512 East Wilson St.
