Seattle Wine Outlet: Seattleites Say "Give Me More!"

I recently attended the opening of Richard Kinssies' second Seattle Wine Outlet location hoping to score some good, cheap vino for my upcoming birthday party. I'm not talking cheap like Trader Joe's "two buck Chuck," but definitely under $15 a bottle. When I arrived at the opening, I was delighted by the number of options in this price point. And overwhelmed by the number of city folk who also showed ...

Tiger Mountain Tea Co. - Issaquah, WA

Just because Seattleites are considered quintessential coffee drinkers doesn't mean there isn't room for tea in our lives.  Stop in to Gilman Village in Issaquah and find the Tiger Mountain Tea Company for a virtual cornucopia of teas.  The décor inside the store is reminiscent of a more tropical place.  Don't feel too overwhelmed when you see the beautiful wall of teas.  Beautiful glass jars filled with even more beautiful ...

Redhook Brewery Woodinville, WA

"Million Dollar Quartet" - a Village Theatre production

Our cool Aunt Donna told us about this production, and she was right on, it was "mesmerizing".  It is the story in music and conversation about a real night in Memphis when four great musicians happened together.  Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johhny Cash and Carl Perkins together with the man who discovered them all - Sam Phillips of Sun Records.  What a toe tapping night.  This production has been ...

Trotters Restaurant in Auburn, WA

If you're stuck eating in Auburn (south of Seattle) and you don't feel like Mexican, a good option might be Trotters Restaurant at 825 Harvey Road N.E.  With a decidedly American menu, it has the atmosphere of the former ice cream parlor it started out as in 1971.  They still have lots of ice cream choices! No beer or wine.

The menu gives you a historic perspective of the Auburn area ...

Whidbey Island Farm Tour

What a great blustery October day we had on Whidbey Island (and hour and a half out of Seattle by ferry from Mukilteo) last Saturday. The rain held off as we did the Whidbey Island farm tour and were able to look at 8 farms on the mid to north end of the island.  (We just didn't have time for the ones on the south end.)  We were able to ...
