The Squirrels and Duffy Bishop Band at Ballard's Seafood Fest--Setting a New Standard for Seattle Festivals

I envy Portland.  No sales tax to pay, prettier ocean beaches, light rail and even a TRAM!  They removed a freeway to create RiverFront Park and they have a local blues music scene we just can't get enough of.  Witness, Duffy Bishop and her band knocking the socks off the ecclectic, all age crowd at the Ballard Sea Food Fest last July 28.  Duffy channels the blues like no other and the crowd cheered and cheered for more.  She does Janis Joplin with near perfection.  I heard she was going to do a revival of Joplin's work until the family stopped it. I'd always heard her name when listening to KINK FM Radio and my mother has one of her albums.  She snuck up on us when she played the Ray Charles Tribute at the Triple Door last January.  I was awestruck by her voice. The Ballard show was free, there were chairs, polite audiences, beautiful weather, an $8.00 salmon dinner and even a beer/wine garden.  We celebrated a family member's birthday and boy was it reasonable.  Thanks Festival Organizers!  Visit Duffy Bishop's website at www.duffybishop.com

We arrived about 5PM and stumbled upon "The Squirrels," rock, comedy, indie group from Seattle.  What a BIG HOOT.  It was poetry and reflection with high art.

Squirrels play BallardMaybe we should have taken Ballard seriously and given them that monorail?  But, that would be sensible

Hey old Rocker, thanks for the time traveling. Believe it or not, I saw many of the folks you mention way back in the Netherlands. I bought a hand full of tickets for the Byrds when they came to Groningen en had visitors from Amsterdam camp out in my parental home and on the land, so they could see the show!
