Tulio Ristorante - downtown Seattle in Hotel Vintage Park

I have not been to Italy, yet, but I hope this is what it is like when I get there. Tulio has such warmth that as you enter your mood is immediately lifted. The décor and lighting are reminiscent of days-gone-by. They call it a simple, rustic approach to authentic Italian cuisine using fresh local ingredients.

We went for dinner. They were kind enough to split ...

Mayflower Park Hotel - shopping in Seattle!

Location, location, location.  Ahhh, now this is what a hotel should be like.

My sister and her husband travel down for two nights from Whidbey Island every December to get a jump on their Christmas shopping and get in the Christmas spirit at this hotel.

Mayflower Park Hotel describes itself as warm and gracious with an inviting European elegance.  This eighty year old hotel is perfectly located in downtown Seattle for shopping, ...

Summer of 2007 Top Ten to Do List in Seattle

Summer in the Emerald City

We tend not to travel to far from home during the summer months; hey, why should we, when we can go outside and "enjoy the weather", we can stay inside without the A.C. blasting (tell that to the folks back in Texas). The Pacific Northwest is a nature lover's and sports fanatic's wonderland, who wants to go anywhere else when the going is that good?

However, summer ...

The Edgewater Hotel's place in ROCK history

edgewater1

The Edgewater Hotel near Pier 66, while today looks like a demure waterfront hotel has quite a past.  I love the "lodge" look in its recent incrarnation and recently spent some time in the bar waiting for another event at the Bell Harbor Conference Center next door.  OH, Sidebar here...  The Bell Harbor Conference Center is also host to summer cruise ships departing for Alaska from ...

Willows Lodge, Barking Frog - 20 minutes from Seattle

The obvious question it seems would be, what the heck is a "Barking Frog" and why would they name a fine restaurant after it? If a barking frog is known for attention to detail then we would know where this stylish bistro in wine country in Woodinville got its name. The fire draws you in and ...

Renaissance Seattle Hotel

This would be a great cocooning hotel.  This aging hotel (formerly Stouffer Madison) does not appear to have updated in its 22 years.  The unimpressive lobby, bar and two so-so restaurants have seen better days. The pool and health-club on the 28th floor have a fantastic city view.   This is a Marriott property, but no where does it seem to boast that.  Not even at the entrance of the property where the ...

Lake Quinault Lodge and Olympic National Forest

Washington State with all of its beauty, ruggedness, coastlines of sea and fresh water, forests, desserts, agriculture, wine and apple industries transformed in the New Deal Projects funded by the FDR administration. WPA Projects put people to work, transformed our rivers with dams, moved whole towns and created locks and lakes, along with our Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Parks.

History, Preservation, Brew Pubs and Fun Define McMenamin Brothers Northwest Collection

Dad Watson's Brew Pub in Fremont

Anyone in Portland knows of the McMenamin Brothers and their work at restoring and creating unique family experiences.  Whether it be their brew pubs, theaters, hotels, music venues or wineries, distilleries or gardens, everything they touch turns into Northwest "originals," all the while preserving some of the history of this part of the country.

In Seattle, there is Dad Watson's Brew Pub ...
