District Lounge in Hotel Deca

The District Lounge has an unassuming entrance which masks an excellent music venue. It has a warm decor done in deep reds, with jazz influenced paintings on the wall. It feels like a very swanky study or sitting room. There are benches with tall backs and groups of comfortable chairs, set up to inspire intimate conversation.

There is a good variety of cocktails with sexy names or a selection of wines to choose from, as well as local micro brews on tap. But the main reason to go to the District Lounge, is for the jazz. Friday nights there is live jazz from 9:30 to about 11:30. It was an ideal atmosphere to soak up the sweet sounds, especially if you are a lover of jazz. I admit that I don't know if it is the same group playing every Friday, but I'm certainly willing to find out. And I did not try the food, but this is yet another delight I will have to sample next time I'm there.

Directions and other useful information is located on the Hotel Deca website: www.hoteldeca.com. The hotel itself is located in the heart of the U District, not far from shopping and other restaurants. No matter what part of the evening you stop in, The District Lounge is a welcome respite from a long week at the office.
