Cafe Amore in Belltown
Although I did not go on a romantic date there, Cafe Amore would be an ideal setting for such an occasion. This is especially true regarding the interior of the cafe. The lighting is soft and warm, the service unobtrusive, the music appropriately muted. To further the ambiance, old black-and-white movies play on the far wall of the restaurant (no sound). In addition to the surroundings, I also enjoyed the food. I had the "antipasta" platter: marinated artichoke hearts, Italian meats and cheeses, as well as olives, pepperoncinis and cheese toast. My friend had the salmon and thought it delicious. We shared a bottle of excellent Chianti (not sure of the name) and had a gorgeous tiramisu to cap off the meal. The restaurant does have a spacious patio. However, I don't recommend it unless you like talking over traffic. It tends to get pretty loud out there, not a very mood-enhancing trait.
Cafe Amore is both a fine restaurant and an excellent bar located at 2229 5th Avenue. I was not able find a website, but for further information, the number is: (206) 728-6033. It is certainly worth venturing out to enjoy this interesting corner of Belltown.
