Woodland Park Zoo Tunes Family Fun

Pink Martini Woodland Park Zoo

This is my third Woodland Park Zoo Tunes concert this summer. Tonight Pink Martini performed.. Eclectic, eccentric and wowing the crowd with elan, Portland's Pink Martini with strings, formal evening dress, harp, Latin vocalist, orchestra, it was quite possibly the largest group to assemble on the outdoor stage on the meadow near the carousel and north entrance.

Having taller chairs that didn't pass muster with the yardstick patrol, smoking near a west corral and sipping merlot in yet another caged off areas near the Butterfly Exhibit I was reminded of the WAMU television commercials with the bankers roped in. But, WAMU should be mentioned for being a major sponsor of the Zoo Tunes summer series. Carter Suburu, Metropolitan Markets, The Mountain, 103.7 are all contributing, participating sponsors. They cover the artist's costs and all ticket proceeds benefit the animals at the zoo. Children under 8 get in for free. Consider this level one mastery of concert behavior. You might try Craiglist Seattle under Tickets and see if anyone is selling them for Pink Martini's tomorrow evening performance. There's still tickets available for the rest of the series. I'll be there for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones next week. Visit www.zoo.org for complete Woodland Park Zoo and Zoo Tunes information. Bring the kids and a picnic. The sunsets are all memorable.
