Kelsey Creek Farm and Snoqualmie Falls--4 Hours Back to Nature Trip From Seattle with Kids

It was a day planned outing from Seattle with grandson Henry, 3rd Cousin Gab, Great Great Aunt Jude and me. Despite drizzly skies we wanted an experience kids here today get little of. In just a span of 4 hours we left the city of Seattle for a great Bellevue Park, Kelsey Creek Community Farm. I was struck by how many of us today, including this 2 and 9 year old have little connection to agriculture and animal husbandry. Nor, do they get much chance in this concrete, urban environment to experience the forces of nature like Snoqualmie Falls.
We eat chicken and eggs and ham. We ride horses. Beef comes from cattle...etc.

Thanks to the City of Bellevue (Edge City to Seattle) for preserving this farm and park. It is so easy to get to from Seattle and I-90/I-405. Many programs are available and I predict a summer camp for someone in the future. Visit www.cityofbellevue.org and search for Kelsey Creek. Older kids would really benefit by the service learning opportunities at this gem.
We feasted on fresh blackberries from the vine and were dwarfed by the towering Sunflowers:
The white barns, pasture fence and drizzly skies make for a Pacific Northwest contrast:

Plan B set to motion, time to spare. We motored east on I-90 with Elmo's Greatest Hits, disco music on the car sound sytem armed with chocolate cookies and a picnic lunch for Snoqualmie Falls.
Henry and Gab loved the falls and "Wow" was the word. Gab wanted to climb the trees. Henry's orientation were the rocks, sand and gravel below.
Traveling to Seattle with Kids? It was easy, and the only cost was the gas in the car for this great 4 hour tour.
