Eartha Kitt at Jazz Alley July 31-August 5 (Cat Woman Returns for Extended Engagement)
Two years ago on my birthday, I was lucky enough to have a front row seat to see the legendary, iconic, one of a kind, Eartha Kitt at Jazz Alley. As we entered, the maitre'd said Ms. Kitt preferred having men close to the stage. I'll never forget her in her long flowing form fitting gown, heels and the dips she made. Not bad for a septagenarian. One of her numbers she leaned in close to me and sang as if I was the only one in the room. I was startled when she put the microphone near my mouth and had me sing back to her. A memorable birthday from this legend, of many song stylings and standards such as "Santa Baby" etc. I recall her taking on President Johnson in the White House during the Civil Rights Era and the return of the original "Cat Woman," from the "Batman" TV series.
Catch her for real at Jazz Alley, a nice supper club venue. A tip: Go when the doors open, have dinner and beverages and you'll likely get a good seat to see this legend. GGGRRRRRROWWWWL!
