Fall Festivals in Leavenworth in High Gear

This past weekend Leavenworth hosted it's 46 anniversity of Autumn Leaf Festival. A great time was held by all. The next three weekends they will be hosting their Oktober Fest events.

New to Levenworth are the redesigned streets being given the final touches. It has been a long haul but the streets with their new paver side walks, light poles, landscaping are absolutely smashing. The new look is fresh and lends itself to the Bavarian theme.

Time to make plans for your trip any of the several Christmas Lighting Festivals through Dec. Don't forget Christkindlmarkt the weekend of Thanksgiving. It is a great way to kick start your holiday season.

Gigantic Yard Sale in Leavenworth, July 24,25,26

HUGE AND I MEAN HUGE YARD SALE this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Brand new Christmas and gift items including angels, yard garden figures, wreaths, ornaments, etc. Each day new items will be added because there is that much to sell. Forget the gas prices. You will make it up in the great buys you get when you go to this sale. So get in your car and come to Leavenworth for a great sale and enjoy the rest of the town. It is a great day trip. This may be the biggest yard/garage sale Leavenworth has every seen. To find the yard sale drive to Leavenworth via Highway 2 and find Chumstick Hwy. It is the light at the corner where Dan's Market is (Second light from the west and east) . Turn on to it and travel 8 miles up the valley and follow the signs. Plenty of parking available. Leavenworth Roads Amiss But Everything Is Going Strong As Ever

Yes, the roads in town are a bit of up heavel but they are the foundation for a better look and safety in the town. They so far have been working on phase one of the project. You can find the details on the city website at : www.cityofleavenworth.com . In the middle of the week you can find the contractor, Pipkin Construction, is doing a marvelous job and are an attraction all by themselves, especially for men.

Just remember all the spring events have been going strong as ever and Leavenworth and your presence is a blessing to the town.

Leavenworth Getting a Spring Road Makeover

Downtown Leavenworth has embarked on a major road overhaul. In the process of the construction all pipes and utilities are upgrading their systems to be able to handle new development in our clinic, hospital, and ER. New construction is also being considered in this rennovation.

So when you come to Leavenworth remember that we just look this way for a short time and before you know it we will be spiffy clean ready for all the festive moments you are used to in Downtown Leavenworth.

Here are some sights and sounds of Leavenworth Christmas Lighting 2007. Prepare now for next year. If you plan to stay the night remember to book early as most lodging is booked a year in advance if you want to stay in town.

If you come remember to dress in layers and carry something that you can put your outer coat in while you visit shops. This way you will be able to enjoy your shopping experience more. Come loaded to sing and get all motivated for a fun filled Christmas.

Ice Festival at Leavenworth is this Weekend Jan.19-21

Winter in Leavenworth is a hoot during the winter when you come for the IceFest Celebration.

Geared for locals anyone can enjoy this weekend of fun for the whole family. Events are schedule throughout the day.

Create a team and do some swooshing races, or race snow shoe. Restaurants have races to test their skills. Beautiful dogs sled vie for a win during sled pull competition. One of the favorite is ice sculpting in various age categories.

This year there is plenty of snow and the temperature is great. As always there is a small sledding hill right in town at the park which is a favorite for kids and adults alike.

Sunday night features fireworks that light up the sky around a back drop of the Christmas lights in town. It is a great treat. It is nice to take a cup of coffee and find a spot to sit and watch the festivities.

Be sure to take warm clothing and proper foot wear. It is snowy and often icy so be prepared.

Good Morning America is Coming to Leavenworth-Be a Part of the Program

That's right...Good Morning America is Coming to Leavenworth. They will be coming a week earlier to do filming of the preparations for Leavenworth's Christmas Lighting Festival. On November 29th, Leavenworth will be featured on the program. For it to be live they will be doing a mock festival though it will be done like a normal festival. The hour is different...like 5am. Merchants need to be open at 4am. They are looking for crowds so come, make the trip, and become a part of the event. Yes, it will be a little early but to be live we have to accommodate the time zone in New York.

If you just can't be here make sure you watch the program November 29. Thank you for taking interest in Leavenworth.

Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival in Leavenworth this Weekend

The theme...'Autumn Bavarian Style' provides the essence of what you will find if you take a trip to Leavenworth is weekend. Be sure to come for the bulk of the activities on Saturday. Even if you take a day trip it will be worth it. Here are some of the events you can expect:

Early Morning (8 am) you can participate in one of two different walks--Royal Lady Autumn Leaf Walk and the 2007 Bird Walk.

Salmon Festival is Running This Weekend in Leavenworth

Yes, it is that time of year and this weekend is when you need to show up for a very entertaining and educational time learning about salmon and various outdoor activity skills. The festival is located at the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery and can be found traveling down either Icicle Road or E. Leavenworth Road which are on the east and west sides of Leavenworth.

Remember this is not just for kids. It is very entertaining and worth the effort to come. I consider it one of the better small festivals in Washington state.

Make Your Plans for Christmas Lighting in Leavenworth Now!!

Leavenworth is known country wide as a great place to come to participate in Christmas festivities. Please refer to more details at the Leavenworth Chamber Site: www.leavenworth.org .

If you plan to stay the night in the area and you are driving you need to book your lodging early like six months ago (smile) but there are a few spots available now. Check www.natapoc.com and the other listings in the chamber directory for other lodging areas.

Best thing to do is take a tour bus. They come from all over so look into your local tour companies. A big treat is to take the Christmas Lighting Train from Seattle. It is a full day...meals on train are provided along with entertainment. Book this through Alki Tours at: http://www.alkitours.us/ .

When you come be prepared:

Bring warm clothing-scarves, hats, etc. and appropriate footwear. Most of the time it is cold and icy so choose wisely what you use. It can be uncomfortable if you are not prepared. Dress in layers because going in and out of stores and restaurants varies in temperature.

When you are in Leavenworth you will feel right at home dressing yourself up with Christmas decorations--Reindeer antlers, flashing lights, etc.

Make sure you bring your camera for photos with father Christmas, Scrooge, the nutcracker, and other various characters running about. Remember to bring extra camera batteries because normally there are not many available in town. You will take alot of pictures so be thinking ahead.

Bring extra change for some roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate.

When you need a rest, the First Baptist Church across the hightway from the park is open to warm your tummy with soup, coffee, and tea at no charge.

Warm up on your Christmas Carol singing voices. It is great fun to sing with so many people.

Last of all bring your heart. Let us warm it up with a wonderful Merry Christmas.
