San Antonio Jazz's Alive 2008

I thought I would post this at this time to give Jazz enthusiasts who are planning for their next vacation spot to be San Antonio enough time to be here for this year’s Jazz’s Alive event.

For this year’s two day celebration of Jazz will feature Dave Brubeck. So if you do happen to be in the Alamo City on or during the weekend of September 20th-21st and you like Jazz music, you will enjoy it.

The San Antonio Jazz’s Alive event celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, so it should be quite memorable. And as usual, the venue is Travis Park, downtown, San Antonio.

Other performers who will grace the stage with their presence are not known at this time, but for more information on this, you can check the Jazz’s Alive page at: http://www.saparksfoundation.org/jazzsalive.html There will be lots to eat and drink, so come on and have a good time!

I agree with the other posters. Unlike them, I keep going to these things. When will I learn? This should be called the "Elevator Music and SalS'Alive Festival".

For the majority of the groups what kept going through my mind was:

"Your call is important to us. Please remain on the line. Your wait time is now, 3 minutes, 34 seconds...."

There was a group called Hiroshima. When they played, it was more like: "This is the end of our show. Thank you for visiting the planetarium. Please exit to the right..."

I'm not kidding, just go to the websites/Myspace of these groups and you'll hear what I am talking about.

And what is the deal with having every possible iteration of Henry Brun year after year? Latin playerz, latin concoction, latin big band. Next year, maybe the latin philharmonic? Finally, where is the jazz in Urban 15. I like some Brazilian booty-shakin' just as much as the next guy, but really, that's NOT JAZZ!
