Taiko Drum Fest
Come and listen to the heart-pounding, energetic sounds of Kaminari Taiko at the 11th Annual Houston Grand Taiko Festival, September 28th and 29th at 7:30 p.m. at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park. No tickets required, free parking, and free admission.
Two-and-half hours of the centuries-old Japanese tradition of taiko drumming, which is a combination of high energy movements and heavy percussions, is a wonderful sight to behold. I witnessed Kaminari Taiko perform in April at the Japan Fest and the energy, the incoherent rants of its members made me want to immediately grab some drumsticks and sign up for a class.
