Shopping in Dallas - Northpark Mall

Shopping in Dallas can be more than fun...  especially if you take a trip out to the very fashionable, famous and high-end North Park Mall.  Home to Dallas' original Neiman Marcus, this spacious Mall has all the best designers in one location.  Known as the Rodeo Drive of Dallas, this old school Mall is also home to new arrivals Barney's New York and Nordstrom.  You will also find high end jewelers, some familiar lines like Origins and L'Occtiane, as well as several designer labels like Oscar De La Renta, Coach, Bottega Vennetta, Prada and my all time fav ... Tiffany's.

There are plenty of places to eat and a palatial movie theatre to enjoy the latest flick.  If you want to see how the rich and famous of Dallas shop, visit the Northpark Mall and make a day of it.

There is plenty of places to park at this rather large mall at the corner of 75 and Northwest Highway.  Catch a taxi from your hotel, or if you have a rental car, let the valet park for you so you won't have to traipse across the hot parking lot in the legendary Dallas' summer heat.

Start out the day at La Madeline and have a little croissant and cappucino to get you going.  Next, take a walk down the hall toward Neiman Marcus. Along the way peruse the many upscale boutiques like Bebe, Kenneth Jones New York, and Ralph Lauren.

You can even pop over to Origins and check out its luscious all natural products, which make one smell of citrus and herbs.  Schedule a facial for later if you want.  The skin products are well worth the trip.  Pick up some of their all natural sleep aid, Sleep Perchance To Dream Pillow mist. Spray it on your pillow at night for a lush Orange, warm Cinnamon, smell that will help you relax after a long day of shopping.

You can stop off at Williams Sonoma to browse the latest in cookware, dinnerware, flatware and linens for the perfect dinner table.  There are some excellent cookbooks and if lucky, you might catch a demonstration or a book signing.  After a review of the latest peppermill and gourmet cooking oils, stop off at Tiffany's even if it's just for a look.

Tiffany's is full of not only the world's finest jewelry, but it also houses some elegant crystal vases and frames.  Best buy tip:  Pick up a bottle of my all time favorite perfume, named (what else?) Tiffany's.  For a mere $75 you can get the special signature blue box with a white ribbon.  Trust me, it's worth it just to own the box!

Across the hall is the world famous and a Dallas original, Neiman Marcus.  There is something for everyone here from elegant shoes, outrageous handbags and the latest in couture fashion.  I have spent many an afternoon at the Chanel counter picking out just the right shade of lipstick for the season.  (This summer - coral lip gloss is the ticket!).  If they have time, get a beauty consultant to do a make-up application.  It will give you a fresh perspective on make-up application and introduce you to some of the latest trends in make-up products, which usually focus on the age-defying and all natural.

After trying on a few pairs of shoes and maybe catching some great buys on the shoe rack you can head out and try some other great shops.  Turn left and take a peek inside L'Occitane.  European all natural botanical products will delight the senses and make you wish for an afternoon in the French countryside.  Vanilla Cherry perfumes and Provence lavender lotions line the walls of this beautiful shop.

Outside and down the hall you can find the latest handbag styles at Coach, more great fashion at Banana Republic and the hip and trendy Anthropolgie.

Another must-see is the new addition, Barney's New York.  For the younger and hipper crowd, this is the best store to find the glasses, shoes, purse and perfect outfit to fit in among the young jet-set Hollywood crowd.

Next stop Nordstrom, for yet another wide selection of the latest fashions, including a good place to pick out the perfect yoga pants.  After shopping for shoes on that hefty sale rack, you will probably be ready for a nice lunch.  Northpark has several places to satiate the shop ‘til you drop hunger.

Maggiano's for the Italian appetite, P.F. Chang's for Asian cuisine and the Corner Bakery for sandwiches.  You might want to just head over to Nordstrom's café on the third level for a nice sit down lunch, although Maggiano's iceberg salad with blue cheese and to die for lasagna sounds pretty good too!

After lunch there is still more to explore, like the fine stationary store Papyrus, the exquisite jeweler Bailey, Banks and Biddle, Bath & Body works, the Gap and the ever popular Macy's.  There is even a Victoria's Secret!

If time permits, catch a movie the AMC multiplex.  It has luxury seating and 16 screens, so there is sure to be a movie to interest all tastes.

After the movie, get a bite of chocolate at to go, because to much if a good thing is well... GREAT!One thing's for sure, you will love this Mall and want to come back and spend another day... and another... and another...

La Madeline ... I haven't eaten there since I graduated college and left Dallas. West Texas is such a bummer.
