The Swiss Avenue Home Tour
The homes on Swiss Avenue in Dallas were developed in 1905. Listed in the National Directory of Historic Places, Swiss Ave. is one of the finest collection of homes in the Southwest dating back to the early 20th centruy. Bring Mom for the festivites on Saturday May 12th from 10am to 6pm with a parade at noon. Or come down Sunday for the champagne brunch beginning at 11:30am.
Mother's Day Tea:
For the hip and artsy Mom, The Women's Museum of Dallas, close to Fair Park (3800 Parry Avenue), is having a Mother's Day Tea on Sunday, May 12; 11:30 - 1:30. Don't miss the 3rd Floor Gallery where the American Pattern Paintings: Wooden Quilt Exhibit is being held.
Rock the Block Party at West Village:
This Saturday May 12, beginning at 1 pm, the hip and trendy Mom will enjoy a day out at this collection of cute shops and fun restaurants. One of the best places to shop in Dalls, you can even catch a foreign film at the Angelika. Live bands at 2, 4 and 6 pm include Brett George, Egress and sultry songstress Carmen Rodgers. The shops will have sales galore, so shop'til you drop, then head to Ferre and Cru Wine Bar for sips and nibbles. Free covered parking and valet available.
The Dallas Arboretum:
For the garden lover, 9am - 5pm take Mom to the Dallas Arboretum. It's too late to book the afternoon tea (sold out!) but you can take a tour of the beautiful grounds on a golf cart or look at the beautiful historic buildings off the lake. There are two cafes for a light lunch and a small gift shop. Well worth the trip!
