East Side Austin--A Great Night Out No 1.

Austin's East Side has become a hot spot of late. Some call it yuppification/gentrification, others call it progress/revitalization. Regardless of which side you might fall on in this debate, the East Side offers some of the best eats and culture in Austin. It will be my goal for the next few entries to offer some lovely East Side options. Here is one evening itinerary I took only two weeks ago.

Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria

 Austin Museum of Art

While many do know of this wonderful feature of our city, many do not. Yes, Austin has a wonderful Museum of Art, several in fact, but the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria is special in so many ways.  ( http://www.amoa.org/ )

Austin Happy-Hour? Try the Tavern Sports Bar!

South Congress Cafe is Keeping Austin Weird

8.jpg

If you have ever heard of Austin, Texas you for sure have heard the saying “Keep Austin Weird.”  It’s on T-shirts, billboards, buttons and hats.  It’s what Austin is proud of and well it should be. If you haven’t then you just don’t know Austin yet!

The great thing about this next restaurant is that the staff shows you exactly what that means!

So after a long weekend ...

Pete's Piano Bar is always a good time!

Pete's Piano Bar

As an old year closes and a new year begins, it seems only right to review one of my favorite places to hang out in downtown Austin.  Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar.  I have never been to Pete’s and said to myself after words…..”You know I didn’t have a good time.

This great concept is not only located in Austin but conveniently in other ...
