Shop the Domain in North Austin

Locals familiar with the offerings of Austin in the shopping sector will notice that this brand new outdoor mall is fancier than anything this casual city has seen before. The Domain houses a number of high-dollar shops that are new to the city, from the expansive Neiman Marcus and Barney's CO-OP to Louis Vuitton and the blue box provider, Tiffany's & Co. But the 700,000 square feet of shopping isn't just for the affluent. There are a handful of more mainstream (aka more affordable) shops, like Victoria's Secret and Banana Republic. My new favorites: Z Gallerie, offering uber-cool, relatively affordable housewares and accessories and Martin + Osa, a slightly more expensive J.Crew-esque clothing store with luxurious casual duds for both genders.

Even those strapped for cash will appreciate the beautiful development (almost an oxymoron, I know.) The spacious limestone path makes for an easy and relaxing window-shopping walk. And don't miss a possible sneak peek into the lush loft apartments just above the shops.

Food options are growing there as well. Kona Grill, California Pizza Kitchen and the Steeping Room are the current eatery anchors for the mall. In the near future, Jasper's, Fleming's Steakhouse, McCormick & Schmick's, and more will also be represented when all is said and done.

Before making your inaugural trip to this mall, be sure to map it. Although it's just off Mopac, it can be tricky to get to. From northbound Mopac, exit Burnet Rd/Duval Rd. You'll see the Domain's bubbly sign and entrance immediately on the right after taking the exit.
