Alamo Drafthouse
The Alamo Drafthouse is probably one of the most fun places to visit in Austin. You can go for a regular movie or you can show up for a singalong or special event. They have everything here, even food.
Having only moved to Austin last year, I was surprised to find that you could order food and drinks at a movie theater. And yet, here it is, this innovation that bridges two types of entertainment into one fun Friday or Saturday night. Not to mention the craziness on their monthly calendar, from the Rocky Horror Picture Show to a Moulin Rouge singalong to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pizza party.
There are four Alamo's in Austin: Downtown, Lake Creek, S. Lamar and Village, and they can also be found in Houston, San Antonio, etc. Check out the calendar on the website to see what the upcoming events are.
