Looking for an after dinner treat? Try a Czech dessert

A hidden gem, Big Kolache (2407 S Congress Ave, Austin, 78704 - (512) 383-9050) offers even the most discriminating palates options of delicious pastries known as the kolache. True to its name, the Big Kolache provides fresh-baked, scrumptiously large kolaches.

According to Wikipedia: A kolache (also spelled kolace, kolach, or kolacky, from the Czech and Slovak plural koláče) is a type of pastry consisting of fillings ranging from fruits to cheeses inside a bread roll. Originally only a sweet dessert from Central Europe,

they have become popular in parts of the United States.

My favorite is the poppy seed variety.  While my all-time favorite kolache shop is Little Czech Bakery which is located in the city of West - about 350 miles north of Austin, these are pretty awesome.  But the best part of the shop is walking into that enveloping aroma of fresh baked pastry.  You'll love it! Try as many as you can!
