2007 CMA Music Festival June 7-10

Formerly known as "Fan Fair," the CMA Music Festival offers country music fans of all ages, shapes and varieties a great way to experience Music City in a whole new way. The Festival includes music from over 400 artists (up and coming as well as big-time acts like Reba McEntire, Big and Rich and The Oak Ridge Boys) as well as autograph signings and fun zone activities to make it a fun, family-friendly event.

Though many locals avoid the downtown area like the plague during the festival, be aware that parking can be hard to find, and expensive. Nashville businesses typically don't close for the festival, so you will be dealing with commuters, as well as many other event-goers. If you're planning to come to the festival from out of town, find out if the hotel or campground where you're staying offers free shuttle service to the festival, or somewhere downtown.  The Festival also offers limited, free shuttle service to 4-day ticket holders.  If you are planning on driving into downtown, be sure to come early.

Nashville also gets quite hot and humid at this time of year, especially where there's lots of concrete and people. Make sure you drink plenty of water and find places to cool off during the day. 2nd Avenue offers many restaurants and shops with air conditioning and those "must-have" souvenirs. Also be sure to bring your camera because you never know who might show up! Past sightings have included Paul McCartney, Troy Aikman, and the Beach Boys.
