Flavor and WiFi at FIDO
Fido is the probably the most hoppin' coffeehouse in Nashville, and its not just because of the caffeine. Located near the Vanderbilt campus in the hipster haven Hillsboro Village, Fido occupies a funky old building that used to be Jone's Pet Shop (hence Fido's doggie-style theme).
The interior is clean and comfortable with brick walls, sturdy wood furniture, and local art for sale. It tends to be pretty busy throughout the day, filled with a mix of professors, students, local boho fashionistas, and a genuine hippie or two. Saturdays can get particularly crowded, but if you are not in a rush, it is worth the wait.
The coffee is slammin', made from beans roasted just across town by Fido's sister operation, Bongo Java Roasting Co. Also, unlike many coffeeshops, Fido offers a full menu including delicious egg scrambles and pancakes at breakfast, made-to-order sandwiches and salads throughout the day, and lunch and dinner entrees such as fried catfish tacos with avocado, poblano sauce, and feta cheese. The food is fresh, flavorful, and, truthfully, some of the best casual fare in Nashville. Beer and wine are available as well.
Fido also has WiFi, so go ahead and settle in with a sandwich, your Mac, and a big, foamy latte.
Hillsboro Village is also home to several fabulous boutiques such as Fire Finch, Pangea, and Posh, so stop by Fido for lunch and spend an hour or so shopping! By the end of the afternoon you will be stylish, delightfully caffeinated, well-feed, and smiling.
