The Myrtle Beach area kicks off the summer season with a fun series of free, family-friendly events! This year's Sun Fun Festival will feature hot air balloon rides, boat rides, celebrity meet-and-greet events, arts and crafts, food and refreshments and more, including the traditional Miss Sun Fun pageants. Grand Park on Farrow Parkway, across from The Market Common, is the setting for this year's Sun Fun Festival. 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 6... Enjoy the Catalinas on the main stage at Grand Park. They kick off the free Summer Concert Series.
Saturday, June 7... Come to the opening ceremony, featuring Reuben Studdard from American Idol, Cody Linley from Hannah Montana, Eric Braeden from The Young and the Restless, Ace Young of American Idol and Demi Lovato from Disney's movie "Camp Rock." It's free! Take a photo and get an autograph at Grand Park....
10 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Ruben Studdard
11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Cody Linley
12 p.m. - 3 p.m. - Eric Braeden
1 p.m. - 4 p.m. - Ace Young
2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Demi Lovato
Saturday, June 7... The kids will get a kick out of the Kids Zone Games from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., featuring inflatable rides and activities. You'll enjoy a 7:00 p.m. concert by Third Eye Blind.
Saturday, June 7... Experience free hot air balloon rides and free boat rides on the lake, all from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8... The 11th Annual Sea Doo Surf and Turf Jet Ski Racing Championship features personal watercraft races as part of a national tour. Free for spectators!
Saturday, June 7... Enjoy the Fireworks Extravaganza at Grand Park. Bring the family for this fabulous pyrotechnic show, scheduled for approximately 9:00 p.m., after the Third Eye Blind concert.
Saturday, June 7... Kids will meet and greet their favorite characters, too. It's free!
Saturday, June 7... Experience the Miss Sun Fun and Miss Sun Fun Teen Pageants, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach High School Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. These events have an admission fee. Winners go on to compete in the Miss South Carolina USA and Teen USA pageants.
