
Michelle Salater is an experienced freelance writer currently residing in Charleston, South Carolina. When she isn’t in front of the computer, she’s in search of her next story, exploring the alleyways of Barcelona, gazing at giraffes on the Serengeti, or eating her way through a French Caribbean island.
She regularly contributes destination pieces to St. Louis Magazine and has travel articles published in Transitions Abroad, International Living, and the Big Blue Marble Travel Newsletter. Her work has also appeared in publications such as Missouri Life and The Ozarks Mountaineer. She is the former managing editor for artD Magazine and served as the editor of the Missouri Fox newsletter.
Michelle was the recipient of the 2005 Missouri Writers’ Guild’s honorable mention for Best Feature Article, and her short fiction has been nominated for the Best New American Voices Series. She was recently named semi-finalist in the 2006 Summer Literary Seminar Contest for her short story ”Somewhere in the Middle of America.” In 2005, she was a writer-in-residence at Dairy Hollow Writers’ Colony in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
