The Eight: Reindeer Monologues Open This Friday 12/7

The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, by Jeff Goode, opens this Friday at 8pm at the Society Hill Playhouse. The show will then play every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through December 31st.

A "Comedy Double Feature", The Eight will also feature a variety of comedy acts before the monologues! Every Thursday the short-form improv group Zombieshark will perform. Every Friday will feature the long-form improv group The Ninjas will take the stage, and every Saturday Johnny Showcase, a variety show, will make you laugh.

The Society Hill Playhouse is located on 8th Street in between Lombard and South Streets (507 South 8th Street). Tickets are $21, which includes one drink. Call 215-923-0210 for tickets.

Troika: The Very Best of Philadelphia Improv Show Tomorrow

Tomorrow night (November 15th) at 8pm, the first round of the Troika Championships will be taking place. What is Troika? Well...."every month, nine improvisers are drawn at random and grouped in to teams of three. These three teams will have only a few weeks get to know one another, name their group and practice a format. They will then come together and throw down their best improv stylings on stage. At the end of the show, the audience decides which group gets to continue on to the season finals. "

If you enjoy improv and want to support the Philadelphia arts scene, then come on out! Tomorrow nights' contenders are Scripted Improv Death Squad, One Degree From Allie, and Brenda. Troika will be taking place at The Actor's Center, 257 N. Third Street (3rd and Vine Streets). Tickets are $10.

Philadelphia Improv Theater Cagematch Tomorrow Night at the Shubin Theater

On Thursday, October 25th at 10pm, the Philadelphia Improv Theater will host an improv "cagematch" at the Shubin Theater. Tickets are $5. The Shubin Theater is located on 4th and Bainbridge Streets. (Bainbridge is the street right after South Street.)

The "cagematch" will include performances by the improv groups Spring Summer Fall Winter and The Ninjas. The audience will vote after the performances and decide the winner of the cagematch.

'Amadeus' Now Playing At The Wilma Theater In Center City

Amadeus is the latest play to hit the Wilma Theater stage. Described as "Terrifically entertaining, highly theatrical!" by The New York Times, Amadeus is quickly selling out, so be sure to grab your tickets while you still can!

Rewritten since its original Broadway and film productions, Amadeus is playing now through October 27th.

Spirits of '76 Ghost Tour in Philadelphia

If you are in town during October and want a good fright, check out the Spirits of '76 Ghost Tour going on right now in Olde City, Philadelphia. "One part history, two parts haunt", this tour will take you to 15 of "Philly's Frights and Sights". Walk the cobblestone streets in Olde City at night and learn scary stories about the "dancing Ben Frankline statue" at Liberty Hall,

It departs from the Omni Hotel Lobby, located on 401 Chesnut Street, at 7:30 Wednesdays through Saturdays. The tour starts daily after October 10th.

This tour is a great way to learn more about Philadephia and be scared in the process!

Troika: The Very Best of Philadelphia Improv

This Thursday, September 20th at 8pm at the Actor's Center will be the next round of Troika, an improvasational show and competition.

Two groups of three will do their very best improv to win a coveted spot in Troika's Grand Championship, scheduled for Decemeber 20th. The audience will vote on which of the two groups will go on to the next round. The Actor's Center is located on 3rd and Vine Streets (257 N. 3rd Street) in Center City, Philadelphia. Tickets are $10.

Philadelphia Fringe Festival

The annual Philadelphia Fringe Festival is going on right now in conjunction with the Live Arts Festival. This means there are tons of great shows going on all over the city to be enjoyed. There is something for everyone, be it dance, drama, improv, performance art, and other assorted comedic and dramatic shows. Ticket prices are always reasonable, and many shows are free!

One show to definitely check out is the improv troupe The Cabel, performing tonight, Saturday the 8th, at 8 and 9:30pm, and also Thursday the 13th through Saturday the 15th, again at 8 and 9:30pm. Tickets are $10, and all shows are performed upstairs at O'Neal's Pub, located on 3rd Street between South and Bainbridge Streets.

Ninja Show Tomorrow

The Ninjas, Philadelphia's Most Deadly Improv Group, have a show tomorrow, August 23rd.

The show is at Rembrandt's, a cool bar and club in the Art Museum area of Philadelphia. The craziness begins at 9pm. There is a $5 cover charge.

Shakespeare in Clark Park

Now through August 5th, Shakespeare in Clark Park presents Romeo & Juliet, directed by Tom Reing. The show begins at 7pm and is free to all.

Located on 43rd Street and Baltimore Avenue in West Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Inquirer says that this show is "a real treat for a summer evening."

Enjoy murder mystery dinner theater shows? You are in luck--Without A Cue Productions will take care of all your murder mystery dinner theater needs.

Without A Cue performs every Friday and Saturday at Peddler's Village in Lahaska, PA, as well as every Saturday night at Fisher's Tudor House in Bensalem, PA. Currently Without A Cue is performing "Here's Killing You, Kid", a noir-style show at Peddler's Village, and "Dis-Members Only" (think big game hunters and explorers) at Fisher's Tudor House in Bensalem, PA.
