The National Constitution Center
After visiting the Liberty Bell, taking a carriage ride tour of Society Hill, and seeing Independence Hall, drop by the National Constitution Center. It is located on Independence Mall at Arch Street, between 5th and 6th Streets. It is also two blocks away from the Liberty Bell.
Described by the New York Times as "a spacious, spirited museum", the National Constitution Center is the only museum "devoted to the United States Constitution". There are plenty of cool programs and fun things to do at the Center, as well as over 100 exhibits, many of which are interactive. One can use an NBC radio microphone like Franklin Roosevelt did for his radio "fireside chats" with the American people, see a rare printing of the Emancipation Proclaimation, signed by Abraham Lincoln, and "leave your mark" by signing "today's Constitution, or post your thoughts on current constitutional issues."
Tickets are available in advance by calling 215-409-6700 or by going to www.constitutioncenter.org. Tickets are also available at the box office. Adult tickets are $12, children are $8, and seniors are $11.
The museum is open weekdays from 9:30 am-5pm, Saturday from 9:30am -6pm, and Sunday from 12 pm to 5pm. Parking is available "under the Constitution Center", so enter on Race Street between 5th and 6th Streets. There is also a museum store and the Delegate's Restaurant, which is open for lunch.
There are daily programs at the Center, making it a perfect stop on your historial tour of Philadelphia.
