BBQ food: $35

playing Kings in the park with penis cards: priceless

On Friday night, my friends put a birthday tiara on me and took me all about town for some mayhem. We started out at Wallace Park in NW Portland with a BBQ (we are so classy that we carried our BBQ to the park) and then kinda-sorta joined another birthday group (because they had a permit to drink in the park) while we cooked sausages and played Kings with a huge bottle of cheap wine and cards shaped like penises. We threw frisbees around, taught MissBean to throw a football, and played with Pinot, the 4-month pit bull mix pup. The sprinklers came on at one point and we had to re-think our seating arrangement, but we remained safe (don't sit by the trees!). We eventually migrated (hot BBQ and all) back to Bean's house and watched The Holiday which was pretty lame, and then the real drinking-adventure started.

MamaCeeta and I went from Bean's house to The Brazen Bean and thoroughly enjoyed a couple of strong drinks there. My birthday tiara prevented me from paying anything for my drinks, and I enjoyed spending time with Ceeta. The blood orange margarita and the peach cloteal are highly recommended drinks. Although we left smelling like cigar smoke (yay for cigar bars?) we were buzzed and happy to move elsewhere.

We stopped for a bit at Blue Moon Tavern & Grill where some of the guys we were with had to eat. The Lizzes were there and wished me happy birthday and I soon realized that my two drinks at Brazen Bean were stronger than I though. Eventually we made our way to the oh-so-great meat market known as Ringler's Pub and I stuck to water there. I eventually walked Ceeta back towards Bean's house (from Burnside to Pettygrove!!!) stopping for a Visoda, a Portland drink to prevent my hangover. We also stopped somewhere to get a venti coffee and talk to strangers. (I love Portland, strangers have no problem talking to a drunk girl in a tiara and boa!)

I frequently explore NW Portland with my friends, and normally avoid the meat market-y places but had a blast on Friday night. We are headed back out tonight since it's my official birthday and are starting at The Rogue brewery (where, on your birthday, you get a free t-shirt and yard of beer!) Tomorrow I shall write about the Rogue's taster tray! : )
