Moving To or Within Portland

I have had the oh-so-grand pleasure of preparing myself to move within the great Rose City. This is proving to be a bit harder & more complicated than I had hoped, and so I'm going to share what I'm learning with you guys. If you're looking to move to Portland, or more within Portland, please continue reading and then leave me comments with your tips & tricks and we'll keep this post updated!

CraigsList Apts/Housing for Rent - I've had good luck in the past with this section of CraigsList. I found multiple places that could work for me through here, and you're able to search by number of rooms, keywords, whether you have pets, and rent prices.

CraigsList Rooms & Shares - I found my current roommate through this section on CL. I had a bad experience previous to her, but spent my time getting to know her before we moved in, and I found a great friend as well. You can search through this category just like you can with the apts/housing for rent section.

Portland Apartments is quite listing of apartments that have internet links. They include phone numbers, emails, telephone numbers, and other pertinent information for your search.

The Oregonian has a section where you can search for roommates as well, and they also advertise rental places here as well. Sometimes this site frustrates me, however, as often there isn't much room for information within the ads.

The Willamette Week has a section for classifieds online that you can browse through. They don't have a lot of rentals or roommates advertised, but I've heard good things about it, and who doesn't want to live with a fellow WW reader?

The Portland Mercury has both a rental and a roommates section if you're interested. There are oftentimes pictures included with these ads and seem to be pretty thorough. If you're looking for a 2-bedroom apartment, this may be a good place to check out.

Best Portland Rentals is regularly updated with information on multiple sets of apartments. I've viewed a couple of the complexes during previous searches and they are well taken care of, but sometimes expensive.

Portland Rentals rent both houses and apartments out there. If you have a small budget, this site is not going to be too much help for you, though.

The Portland Rental Service has a very wide variety of places available to rent. Once again, if you're looking for more than one bedroom, this is a great site to check out.

Portland Home Rentals are geared directly towards home rather than apartment rentals, if that's what you're looking for.

The Oregon Humane Society has a list of pet friendly apartments in Portland! What a great way to double check that Optimus Prime pup and Fuzzy McTockersons cat can go with you on your move!

Rental Houses in Portland Oregon lists tons of propery management places here in town. You can be linked to their website and then check out what each management place has available.

Apartments.com has an extensive Portland section. These are mostly managed apartments around the Rose City.

ForRent.com is another national search engine with a Portland section. Once again they are mostly managed apartments around town.

Rent.com is just like Apartments.com and ForRent.com and many of the complexes are copied directly (or doubly-advertised) through these sites.

My Apartment Search.com can be equally likened to the four above listings.
