(503) 227-4300 Swagat Indian Cuisine offers by self-proclamation both north and south Indian food. I don't know exactly if that's the case, seeing as how I've never been to India. What I do know is that they cook up some dang fine grub. One of my ex-girlfriend's father spent a few years in India, and while I can't say yet whether or not Swagat beats out his home-cooked Indian for the best I've ever had, I can say that it's definitely in the running.
The place is fairly large, and even though I was there on a Sunday evening around eight, we were seated without a wait. The prices are reasonable. The food is delicious. The palak paneer, especially, is among the best I've ever had. The nan that came with my lamb saag was not too doughy, simple but tasty. The service was swift and courteous, and the food arrived quickly. All in all, a great dining experience, with the check for two after tip (no drinks) coming to less than thirty dollars. Pretty good deal. Dang good food.
PS- Apparently this place has a killer lunch buffet. It was advertised at 8 bucks, and that does sound like a great deal. Especially if the food is near the quality of the dinner I enjoyed.
