Tulsa river tax shot down
Since I live in the county of Wagoner I was not eligible to vote for or against the river tax. If I had the opportunity to vote, I would have, but since this is not a political blog I will refrain from touting my political agenda here. I will say though, that since it was a close vote, I believe it will return. Not in the form of a new tax, but a private initiative. I highly doubt that the private benefactors will allow this idea to die. It will probably return as a privately funded venture not supported by the tax payers, which if I am right, means it will be proposed with more benefit to the community and will drum up more interest.
The funding would have raised a proposed $282 million to develop out 42 miles from the Keystone Dam to the city of Jenks. $117 of that $282 million was promised by local private investors.
