Cafe Istanbul - an intimate and relaxed Turkish eatery

Cafe Istanbul - an intimate and relaxed Turkish eatery.

Located in the heart of Easton, Cafe Istanbul is a little bit of Constantinople in Columbus, Ohio. While many restaurants error on the side of kitsch to create a certain feel, Cafe Istanbul, uses traditional elements in an understated style to create the mood. The candle lit chandelier in the entry way is breathtaking.

While I am ...

Cafe Shish Kebab

Just a few weeks ago - I was moaning and groaning that there was no solid Middle Eastern Restaurant in the city - at least that I knew about anyway. I had heard of some - but was generally not impressed or frankly I have given up. I have eaten Turkish and Middle Eastern in Europe and well - when you have had some of the very best -  the ...

Handke's Cuisine

Finally after hearing nothing but good things about Handke's Cuisine, we went there for dinner. Why had we not done that sooner? The building itself is extremely impressive. Handke's is located just south of downtown in the Brewery Distract. Located in the former Schlee Bavarian Brewery building - it has an old world atmosphere which is cozy, intimate and very elegant. I have spent time overseas - specifically in ...

The Elevator Brewery & Restuarant

Last night we checked out the Elevator. Located downtown, just south of the Nationwide building on High Street, it is centrally located and in an absolutely wonderful historic building. The original bar from the late 1880s was just wonderful, absolutely beautiful.

AS with any brew pub, they feature their own brews and they certainly should one to suit every taste. We sampled the Winter Ale, which certainly lived up to the ...

Amul India - a Columbus hidden treaure

Tonight was my second trip to Amul India. My first trip was with my book club - at the suggestion of a member of the group who cooks Indian all the time and her husband is Indian. Tonight I went with my family. My friend feels it is the best Indian restaurant in Columbus. I am inclined to agree. I have eaten Indian in Toronto and New York City and ...

Trying to find a restaurant you can all agree on?

Then you must consider Jason's in Dublin, Ohio. The menu is impressive and certainly has something everyone will enjoy. Sure there are plenty of chain restaurants, which have diverse menus - but Jason's is  a locally owned and operated restaurant with class and style.

The service was exceptional and where else can you find, Asian specialties, Italian favorites, steaks done right and an impressive wine and cocktail list? Could it get ...

Spagio - always a good choice

Last night we went to a treasured favorite. Spagio. I think one of the nicest and most predicable places in Columbus. (Grandview actually.)

Chef Hubert not only provides you with wonderful dishes - with a traditional bend - but blended with a modern twice. They feature wood fired pizza, amazing pasta dished, traditional favorites like meatloaf and pork chops, traditional European fare - like Cod Basque Style or Wiener ...

Fun Restaurant

Do you inevitably end up burning dinner? Do you often wish that someone else would be responsible for cooking your food? Well BD's Mongolian Barbeque is the answer to your problem. It is a restaurant that allows you to pick the ingredients for your stir fry but does the cooking for you.

If you like stir fry and you like experiment then BD's is the place for you. With salad ...

Fridays Five after Five at Whole Foods

I know it is a grocery store and who wants to go out at a grocery store - but I have to say that the  Whole Foods Fridays - Five after Five is the best happy hour for the money in town. This is how it works:

You pay five dollars at the door, this gets you five small glasses of wine, from five stations through out the store. At each ...

Feel like a little shopping?

The Lane Avenue Shopping Center has undergone a face lift and is now a lovely outdoor shopping mall, with much variety in a small space. Anchored on one end with Wild Oats Market and the China Dynasty at the others. The nice thing about the shops on Lane Avenue is that it is enough for a short outing, has a number of restaurants to choose from - from fast causal ...
