Okay....so I know there are various Knights Inn's in the Cleveland and surrounding areas...so I WON'T identify which one it was that I stayed at, but it does make for a good read.

Here goes....I drive three hours...it is close to 1am by the time I pull up to the Knights Inn, where I already had a reservation. I walk in and my first clue should have been the bullet proof glass the desk clerk was behind. He gives me my room key with a weird leer on his face, but I figure "It's late...I am tired...blah blah blah" So I just thanked him and left.

I start to drive around the parking lot looking for my room, when I see the police car hiding in wait for locla drug dealers, prostitutes and other evils of the night. Once again, should have been a clue as to what I was getting myself into.

I finally find my room...I hurry inside, bolt the door and stop! i HEAR A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE BATHROOM. I go into the bathroom and the tub is running, apparently the faucet is broken. I almost dismissed it until i noticed that the trim on the walls was actually mold...uck....

I go to the phone and STOP again...and notice the bed has been slept in...hmmmn....I think "Perhaps he has just made a mistake...he has givenme the wrong room, wrong key etc. SO our conversation goes like this....

"Hello, this is room ***, I think you may have given me the wrong room...this one has the bed slept in and the tub is broken..."

"yes?" says the desk clerk

"Um, yes...the bed has been slept in and the sheets are all messed up like someone just got out of the bed." I say again thinking...is this guy slow?

"Would you like a set of clean sheets?" says the desk clerk...

Okay...are you ready for this? By now I have figured out he thinks I am a hooker, because I arrived so late and by myself and he has given me the hooker room....

"No! I don;t want any *Explicitword* clean sheets.... do I look like housekeeping to you?? I want a clean room, with a clean bed...and I want it now...I am coming up there...." I slam down the phone and march up to the lobby.

Now the clerk behind the bullet proof glass is looking a bit like he is afraid I am bringing armageddon with me...I calmly say..."May I please have another room?"

He fumbles with the computer etc., and I stand waiting for me key, when the biggest scariest guy I have ever seen walks in and stands behind me.. I fidgit and look at th eclerk like I will kill him if he doesn't give me my key soon...when big scary guy sorta looks me up and down and says "Hey...how YOU doing?"

"Just fine!" I say as I grab my key.... and he says"You here with your husband?"

As I am running out the door clutching said key I say "Yes! *pause for effect* and he is REALLY BIG!!!

I finally make it to my room...and I check the bed...looks clean...I check the faucets...look good....I check the walls and floors, not too bad...then I lock the door and notice the chain has been KICKED OFF...and rigged up on a piece of wood....I once again wonder where big scary guys room is....

What is a tired girl to do?? I climbed into bed, lit a cigerette (Hay you didn't think I care is it is non-smoking at this point?????) turn on Law and Order....and try to get some rest...as I have a three hour test in the morning. *siigh*

I did make it to my test...I did finish the test...then I went to find my car in the parking lot...and couldn't. But, that's another story about Pedro, the golf cart, and me screaming "VERDI VERDI" isn't that green in spanish? I was trying to tell him it was a green car I was looking for...and No Pedro....I am not drunk!

That bloggin girl in Cleveland!!

The Fire Inside: The Story and Poetry of Nikki Giovanni
Cleveland Public Library will host the debut stage reading of the Karamu House production of “The Fire Inside: The Story and Poetry of Nikki Giovanni,” on Saturday, February 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the Louis Stokes Wing Auditorium, the Main Library, 325 Superior Avenue. This is FREE and open to the public.

GRAB A SLED!! (Brrrrrr) Though I personally find no fun in being cold, possibly wet and tumbling down a hill, my daughter absolutely loves to snowboard and sled. So in her honor- check it out!

Edgewater Park in Cuyahoga County is public property, with a 65 degree slope that is easily accesible. Directions: The sled riding hill is at Edgewater Park right off the shoreway.

Comments: The slope from Upper Edgewater down to the beach at Lower Edgewater is a hair-raiser. Not recommended for small children--hang-gliders launch themselves into the air from this slope. Parking is available in many of the parks lots. Gets busy sometimes, but is great fun. Big hill is steep and there is a smaller one with the large hill for the kids. My daughter wants to go every year and assures me I can just "sit in the car" while she rides. *sigh*Š
