I'm writing from the heart here. I am a "local" resident of Raleigh - and by local, I mean I was not only born here, but raised here and still remain in the area. I am not a transplant - though we welcome you to Raleigh with our Southern smiles and open arms for hugs. Raleigh is the perfect location in North Carolina for a visit or, if you ask me- which you did - to live. It is nestled perfectly between the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains. We have it all within our reach and only a daytrip away. Downtown Raleigh is a hip, happening place full of shopping, entertainment, restaurants, nightclubs, museums, history and more. Suburbia Raleigh - the subdivisions that line the city - are quiet and functional with shops and restaurants and entertainment of their own. It's big city life with a small town feel. It's friendly Southern town meets bustling metropolis. It's just a great place to live. But, don't take my word for it. Come to Raleigh and experience it for yourself. Book your trip today - stay a week or two - stay a weekend - enjoy the scenery and the charm. It's hot here in the summer so dress light. It's chilly here in the winter, so bring a sweater. But, most of all - enjoy!

N.C. State University has announced plans to build an Arnold Palmer designed golf course on the university's Centennial Campus. The 18-hole, par-71 course will be Palmer's first course designed specifically for a college campus. The course, which will be the only public golf course in downtown Raleigh, is scheduled to be completed in spring of 2009. According to a press release by the university, the golf course will be "ideally located within minutes of the new Raleigh Convention Center and Marriott City Center headquarters hotel slated to open in Summer 2008, and will provide the opportunity for both leisure and convention visitors to be in close proximity to one of the area's most notable sporting activities. To accompany the course, plans include a state-of-the-art clubhouse and adjoining 12,000 square foot building that will house classrooms, working labs, meeting and conference rooms and offices which can be rented as a meeting venue." The Palmer Course Design Company has built more than 300 golf courses across the country including Raleigh's only signature Arnold Palmer Golf Course, Brier Creek County Club located near Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
