I went to Kristopher's Bar and Restaurant in Matthews tonight, and it was a great spot for a girl's night out. Drinks are reasonable, the environment is laid-back and fun, and the staff was friendly.
Located at 250 North Trade St. in Matthews, it's a few miles out from downtown Charlotte, but it's in an area of Matthews that's worth the trek to see. Located on a charming block ...

The Philosopher's Stone Tavern is one of those rare jewels of a neighborhood pub: friendly staff, delicious food, and reasonable prices all come together to make for a wonderful evening out on the town.
When I first moved to Charlotte, I lived in an apartment complex near the tavern, which is located at the intersection of 7th St. and Pecan (1958 E. 7th ...

It's a loosely organized tour through the Charlotte's gallery district, and it promises to be a good time. Along the way stop in at local bars, delis, coffee shops, and check out some exciting new art from local as well as international artists. There's no official stopping or starting time, but most folks make the circuit between 6:30 and 9:30. There's a map available here, and you can find ...

The Penguin Drive-Inis a Charlotte institution. Located in historic Plaza-Midwood, it's the home of Charlotte's young, hip, underground scene. Not only is this hot spot the heart of Queen City cool, however, it also boasts some of our finest American standard food, cheap beer, and a fun late-night scene.
First opened in 1954, the Penguin was revamped in 1999. The new owners preserved the ...

For live entertainment in NoDa, Charlotte's historic arts and entertainment district, check out these options:

Cabo Fish Taco
http://www.cabofishtaco.com/
The hardest seat to get in NoDa most nights is at this Southern California/Baja influenced restaurant run by former surfers. Located in the historic Hands Pharmacy building, one of the oldest in NoDa, Cabo is often crowded and often loud, thanks to the original tin ceiling.

The little bar at the back of the ...

NoDa, a contraction of North Davidson, has been hailed as Charlotte's hottest and most eclectic neighborhood. At one time, not too long ago, the area was one of the city's worst neighborhoods, plagued by crime and drugs. But during the '90s the old mill village located just 2 miles from Charlotte's uptown towers, went from derilict to desirable. Money Magazine named it one of the best places to live in ...
