Geva Theatre Center

Geva Theatre

Geva Theatre Center is arguably one of the best professional theater companies in the country for its market size. Located right in downtown Rochester, the building actually houses two stages: the Mainstage where seven productions are produced each season, and the Nextstage, which produces two shows per season as well as housing Geva's Big Theatre for Little People, productions put on specifically with children in mind. Geva Theatre Center is also home to Geva Comedy Improv, American Voices New Play Reading Series, and Hibernatus Interuptus - A Winter Festival of New Plays.

In addition to seeing full-scale theatrical productions, Geva Theatre-goers are also able to see plays taking shape before their eyes, as Geva often takes plays from their inception to their initial production, as they did with Gregg Coffin's Convenience.

The Geva Cafe offers full bar service and a menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts, with the light dinner menu offered before performances and beverages and dessert offered both before performances and during intermission. Reservations are recommended for dinner seating. Parking lots and garages are adjacent to the Geva Theatre Center, and are independently operated, so prices may vary based on the season and event. The theater itself is wheelchair accessible, and both a Sign-Interpreted Performance and an Audio-Described Performance are scheduled during each show's run. Listening systems are available for all performances at the coat check.

The Geva Theatre Center also has a gift shop available with show memorabilia as well as gifts from local artisans. Hours vary. The full Geva Theatre Center schedule is available on their website.
