Wegmans Food Markets
There are grocery stores, and then there are Wegmans stores. Originating in Rochester, New York, Wegmans stores have spread out over the East Coast, including stores in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. In the Rochester area, the flagship store is still the Pittsford, New York store. Located on Monroe Avenue near Pittsford Plaza, this enormous 24-hour grocery store is not to be missed. Inside the store is Tastings, a full-service restaurant that features meals made with the groceries you can buy right next door.
The Pittsford store also has a Patisserie with exquisite baked goods, a sushi bar, heat-and-eat gourmet meals, a Godiva shop, and Complements, a china, glassware, and cooking store right inside the grocery store. Wegmans also features a section of ethnic and imported food, carrying everything from Pocky to Kosher goods, a bulk food section, enormous produce department, floral shop, card and gift shop, video department, and Nature's Marketplace, with natural, organic, and fair trade items, as well as products for specialty diets, like allergy-free and gluten-free diets. A full-service photo deparment is also in the store, and you can even pick up prints ordered online at the KodakGallery.com.
Once you visit Wegmans, you'll understand why Rochester natives line up for hours when a new store opens in a state they've relocated to. Rochester natives often travel an hour to shop at their beloved Wegmans in Maryland or Pennsylvania. It's a one-of-a-kind grocery experience!
