Davinci's Italian Restaurant
Located in an unobtrusive plaza just off Route 390 in Greece, mere minutes from downtown Rochester, New York, Davinci's Italian Restaurant has some of the best authentic Italian dining in the Rochester area. Davinci's features casual Italian dining, complete with high chairs and children's menus for family convenience, as well as a bar and wine list for special dinners.
The restaurant itself is spacious, with room for plenty of tables without feeling crowded. Parties of all sizes can be accommodated even on weekends by calling ahead for a table, and reservations are recommended for large parties, weekends, and holidays such as Valentine's Day.
The menu at Davinci's features Italian favorites such as gnocchi, Eggplant Parmigiana, and Linguini with Clam Sauce, as well as a full range of appetizers and more "American" favorites like Strip Steak or Friday Fish Fry. The children's menu includes kid-pleasing favorites such as popcorn shrimp, pizza, and spaghetti.
A recent Friday night visit netted us a table for eight (four adults and four children) with a phone-ahead at just before 6 PM, but there was a line waiting for tables by the time we left at a little before 8 PM. The wait staff was friendly and very accommodating, aiding with special requests, and attentive even with several busy tables. The food itself is excellent, and portions are large enough to fill you with enough left over for lunch or dinner the next day. Fresh baked bread is brought to the table warm to start with, and refilled as soon as the basket is emptied.
Even with people waiting for tables, we weren't rushed in an attempt to turn tables faster, and while we were tempted by the dessert selection, we were stuffed with our selections of gnocchi (a Davinci's specialty with large gnocchi in a thick red sauce with meatballs or sausage accompaniment if desired), linguine with anchovies, and ziti with broccoli. Soups and specials change daily, and your waiter is always happy to make suggestions.
Prices at Davinci's Italian Restaurant are very reasonable, especially when you consider portion sizes. Located near several hotels, including the Airport Marriott, Marriott Courtyard, and Holiday Inn Express, Davinci's is one of Rochester's hidden treasures for great Italian food.
