Open House New York lets you go behind the scenes of some of the most familiar places in the City... more than 350 in all.

During the weekend of October 4th and 5th you can get tours of architectural wonders that are rarely seen by New Yorkers (many of which are usually private or off-limits to the public). Covering all five boroughs of New York City, the 2008 Open House New York sites include the newly completed 7 World Trade Center, the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, Castle Clinton National Monument in Battery Park, The Arsenal (originally built as an armory, and now the headquarters of the Parks & Recreation Dept.), and many more.

Because of the unique nature of many of the attractions, tours are often limited to a small number of people, and some sites may be open only one day. Visit the Open House New York Web site above for a complete listing of locations, hours and times, ticket information, and much more.

Clint Eastwood's Changeling will be the NYFF Centerpiece, while the closing night will feature Darren Aronofsky's latest film, The Wrestler, which is sparking intense Oscar buzz for its star Mickey Rourke (yes, Mickey Rourke).

You can find all the details and schedules and descriptions of the films at the New York Film Festival Web site, www.filmlinc.com/nyff/nyff.html.

It's the final weekend of New York's biggest outdoor event to pig out on sausage and peppers, cannoli, and zeppole... the Feast of San Gennaro wraps up for 2008 on Sept. 21st.

Taking place on Mulberry Street in New York City's historic Little Italy, the Feast features more than 300 vendors selling food, drink, and other items. Or you eat indoors or outdoors at three dozen of Little Italy's restaurants. There is also live entertainment and more.

The Feast of San Gennaro is easily accessible by public transportation (you do NOT want to be driving anywhere near the Feast, especially on the final weekend!). You can find more information by calling (212)768-9320 or by checking out the official Feast of San Gennaro Web site, www.sangennaro.org.

Bring your appetite, loosen your belt, and head down to Little Italy for the last weekend of San Gennaro!

You can see a selection of them at the Ground Zero Museum's Web site at www.groundzeromuseumworkshop.com.

The photos at the non-profit Museum were taken by Gary Marlon Suson, who was the official photographer at Ground Zero for the Uniformed Firefighters Association. But if you want to see them, and the rest of the Museum, you'll probably have to wait for a bit after September 11th, because the Museum is small and, according to the Web site, can only accommodate 25 people for each 90-minute tour.

I haven't made it to the Ground Zero Museum yet, but hope to soon.

Rain from the remnants of tropical storm Hanna wrecked havoc on Saturday's U.S. Open schedule, although some action was completed. The REVISED U.S. Open schedule for men's semifinals, men's final, and women's final are below.

Roger Federer defeated Novak Djokovic in four sets on Saturday to book his spot in the men's singles final. The other match, Rafael Nadal vs. Scotsman Andy Murray, was started during the Federer/Djokovic match to try to get as much tennis completed before the rain. At the time the rain started, Murray was the surprise leader over the number one seeded Nadal, up two sets with Nadal up a break in the third set.

Here's the schedule for the rest of the U.S. Open, which will now take place on Sunday, 9/7 and Monday, 9/8. All matches (except the women's doubles final) will be shown on CBS TV.

* The completion of the Nadal/Murray match will take place Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. (It will be preceded by the women’s doubles final, which starts at 1 p.m.)
* The women’s singles final, which was to take place Saturday night, has been rescheduled for Sunday at 9 p.m.

On Friday, Sept. 5th four powerful young women will be vying for the chance to make it to the 2008 U.S. Open women's final. Two of them --- Jelena Jankovic of Serbia and Elena Dementieva of Russia --- will be trying to win their first career Grand Slam title. But unfortunately only one of them will make it.

Dementieva and Jankovic will meet in the first of Friday's afternoon semifinal matches, and the winner will receive not only a berth in the U.S. Open final, but the number-one position in WTA women's singles ranking.

In the second match, which many observers feel will yield the eventual champion, Serena Williams of the U.S. faces the resurgent Russian player Dinara Safina. The sister of ATP Tour player Marat Safin, Safina has had a great tournament and year in 2008, reaching the finals of the French Open and the Beijing Olympic singles tournament.

Venus Williams defeated her sister Venus Williams on Wednesday in two sets, 7-6, 7-6.
