The 2008 New York Columbus Day Parade
The sun will be shining on New York's Italian community tomorrow as the 2008 Columbus Day Parade steps off. Unseasonably warm temperatures of up to 76 degrees are forecast for the parade, which the organizers (the Columbus Citizens Foundations) call the world's largest celebration of Italian-American culture. (See details below.)
And just how big is the New York Columbus Day Parade? The organizers are saying the event will feature 35,000 marchers and "more than 100 bands, floats, and contingents." About a million spectators are expected to line Fifth Avenue.
