Chuck Berry to Play Concert in New York
Chuck Berry is still playing live gigs?! This was a surprise to me, but B.B. King's Blues Club in New York City has him listed as performing on September 14th.
B.B. King's is one of my favorite concert venues in New York. It's located on W. 42nd St. between 8th Ave. and Broadway, right near Times Square and easily accessible by more than a dozen subway lines.
But it's the club itself that I really like: it's a good sized club that feels like a combination of night club and theater. The floor is filled with tables where you can sit and eat and drink, and there's a bar and standing room behind that. Even if you're standing way in the back, you're not that far away from the stage and have a good view of the performers.
B.B. King's has live music most nights of the week, often older classic rock acts like Chuck Berry, The Average White Band, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Al Kooper, and even Jay and the Americans (all appearing in September) as well as tribute bands playing covers to their favorite rock heroes (including Queen and Bruce Springsteen).
