The Chrysler Building

An example of art deco splendor for New York City's legendary days as Radio City (ahhh, that's why we have Radio City Music Hall, hmmm) the Chrysler Building was once the tallest skyscraper in the world at 1046 feet, and at its completion displace dthe Eiffel Tower for tallest man-made structure.

To beat competitors who were trying the same feat (notably the builders of the Trump Tower), William van Alen designed a 56 meter (185 foot) spire which was secretly delivered to the site in sections, assembled inside the elevator shaft, and raised to the top in 90 minutes.

It is still the most unique, beautiful and awesome example of the art deco style.
