Santa Fe's Bumble Bee's BaJa Grill is Buzzing - food for the Veggie and Non-Veggie!

My favorite Bumble Bee's is on Jefferson downtown right off Guadalupe. It's only a few blocks from the plaza and walking distance from anywhere downtown. Great food and fast service. It has a clean, bright eat-in restaurant and a small patio. It's also locally owned with two Bumble Bee's in Santa Fe and two in Albuquerque.

In a hurry? You can get drive-through in the downtown Santa Fe location.

The second location for Santa Fe is on the south side of town at 3777 Cerrillos Road at the corner of Vegas Verdes.

Bumble Bee's doesn't offer much in the way of breakfast, but they do have a tasty, humongous breakfast burrito filled with cheese, eggs, guacamole and your choice of breakfast potatoes or beans, and a choice of red or green chile. You can get hand-held. You can also get it smothered in red or green for a small extra charge.

But if your looking for a filling, fresh, tasty meal for lunch or dinner they offer a heck of a lot. In Vegetarian or not so much you can get tacos and burritos, salads and favorites along the likes of chicken (whole roasted chicken with beans and rice and tortillas along with chips and salsa), half roasted chicken with the same, or whole chicken solo. There's also a trout fillet char-grilled that's mouth-wateringly delicious.

Fillings for tacos include fish, chicken, steak and lamb in addition to the vegetarian. Same for burritos. When you eat in the chips and salsa bar is included in your meal. Fresh and spicy, yum! And if you're that sort, you can even get your burrito sans tortilla wrapper. Just say 'Naked' and the filling is all yours.

Drinks include the usual fountain offerings, but they also have iced tea, beer and wine and specialty soda pop.

Finally, if you prefer to eat at your hotel, pick up a platter from Bumble Bee's for the whole family or your own private party. They offer platters that serve 8 or more; Burrito Platter, Rotisserie Chicken Platter, Taco Platter and Salads in addition to sides of guacamole and chips or salsa and chips.

For the more Vegetarian-minded I highly recommend the Burrito de Tomas, one of their exclusives and it's great. Stuffed with grilled asparagus, avocado, jack and cheddar cheese, rice and sour cream and pico de gallo, it's a wonderful combination of flavors, rich and majorly filling.

Prices here are modest: a single taco with chips is $4.99, two $7.99.  Burritos are $7.99 and they're very large.  Half chicken plate is $8.99, the trout Filet $10.99 and you can get the kids something for $3.69.  Not bad!  Definitely a restaurant to put on your route when you visit Santa Fe.
