Evolving Movie Capitol - Santa Fe
Well, that's pretty much an overstatement - Capitol - unless of course you're referring to us being the State Capitol.
Ahem, I wasn't sure whether this qualifies as an 'event', but Santa Fe will be playing host to a movie company again in the near future. Since Governor Bill Richardson has touted New Mexico as a great place to make films and backed that up with a number of incentives, we've seen quite a number of them in the state and around Santa Fe.
Next up is "Appaloosa" which will begin filming soon. It's good for locals since they'll be hiring a lot of their help here.
It's also good for tourists who like to celebrity watch as in this case, from October 1 through November 24 Santa Fe will play host to Ed Harris who will produce, star and direct. Other principle actors will include Viggo Mortensen and Renee Zellweger. Might just spot one or more of them in local restaurants or shops, who knows?
Since our Governor, Bill Richardson took office there've been over 70 feature films and television series shot in the state. So the opportunity for celebrity glimpsing is on the rise.
If you want to check periodically and see what else might be coming along in the film deparment, go to the New Mexico Film Office online and check it out.
