Wild River Grille

My boyfriend left town yesterday for three weeks, so the other night we went out for a little farewell dinner.  I wore my new heels; he wore a clean shirt.  Apparently he didn't get the memo on the evening's dress code.  And where did he feel like eating?  "Someplace with good beer."  I like a low maintenance man.

My challenge was this: Taking into account our mismatched date night attire, as well ...

Reno's Best Breakfast (Part I)

Ahhh breakfast.  The people's meal.  Who doesn't like potatoes and bacon and oatmeal with soy milk and blueberries and bananas and cereal with marshmallows that you can save until after you've eaten all of the oat bits and anything else that you can throw into a pan with a bunch of eggs and call a "scramble"?  Reno has some good breakfast places, so allow me to aquaint you with them...

Party Planning Reno-Style

Working in a downtown Reno casino, I meet people everyday who've traveled many miles to celebrate that special something under the bright lights of the Biggest Little City.  Be it a wedding anniversary, a 21st birthday, a bachelor party or finally making parole (kidding!), Reno seems to be where it's at for celebrating on a budget.  Let me make this a little easier.

The big 2-1: Okay we get it.  You're ...

Best Date Restaurants in Reno

Until about 10 months ago, I was one of those "always the bridesmaid" type of gals; the perpetual single; matchmaker extraordinaire.  "Fiercely independent," I liked to tell myself.  Well let me tell you this: I am one fiercely independent woman who's gone out on a ton of first dates.  Here are the places I liked and would consider going back to--unfortunately I can't say the same about the men who took ...

Hungry? Great cheap places to eat!

Off the top of my head, here are a few great, yet cheap, places to eat in downtown Reno that aren't chains and aren't in casinos:

Beto's - authentic Mexican food.  Carnitas tostada & carne asada tacos are my favorite.  I also like the Wet Burrito when I'm feeling saucy.  Cheap and tasty.  575 W 5th St  - 775.324.0632.

JJ's Pie Company - right next to Beto's!  Great pizza, calzones, pasta ...

Jazmine: Reno's Best Sushi

The only thing I hate worse than waiting for a table at a restaurant is waiting for a table at a restaurant on an empty stomach.  For this reason, I hope that all of you stop reading right here.  I hope that none of you take the advice I'm on the verge of dispensing for the sake of not only my own sanity, but for my boyfriend's as well, who ...

Reno: The Bars Are Back In Town

There's something curious happening in downtown Reno.  Amidst the casinos and condominiums, a strange phenomenon has sent a new energy streaming through the city's veins:  The bar is back.

For years, Reno residents and tourists had few options when it came to having a good drink and a good time: casino or bust.  But with the opening of the Sierra Tap House on First Street last summer and Se7en Tea ...

Ten Best Places to Eat in Downtown Reno

As many well-fed travelers know, the best place to get a meal is to follow the locals to their favorites for either vittles or fine dining .  Though Reno has numerous great places to eat, many are within a few of miles of the downtown area. Here are ten of the local's favorites, in no particular order:

Fourth Street Bistro - 3065 4th Street.        323-3200        The cuisine is excellent.  Whether you dine on the halibut, lamb, duck, ...
